Joe Biden ready to get publicly vaccinated

The 78-year-old president-elect is among those at risk

After former U.S. Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, it's the turn of a president-elect to advertise the Covid-19 vaccine. Biden said Tuesday he was ready to get vaccinated "in public" as soon as he can, a day after the United States launched a massive national immunization campaign.

Immunologist Anthony Fauci, a highly respected scientist appointed by Joe Biden as a senior advisor for the fight against the virus, "recommended that I be vaccinated as soon as possible," the future president told reporters in Delaware. "I want to make sure it's done according to procedure and when I do, you'll be notified and I'll do it in public," said the president-elect, who at 78 is among those at risk.

Goal: wearing the mask for 100 days

During the presidential campaign, which took place in the midst of a pandemic, he largely limited himself to virtual meetings or the very limited public, and always scrupulously respected the barrier gestures, unlike Donald Trump. He said that once he was sworn in as the 46th president on January 20, he would ask Americans to wear a mask for 100 days to curb the pandemic that has killed more than 300,000 people in the United States.

U.S. authorities plan to vaccinate some 20 million people by the end of December, 100 million by the end of March and the entire population by the summer. But some of it expressed its reluctance to use a completely new vaccine and its concern about its side effects.
