Apple: Lightning charging cable could disappear from iPhone boxes
Apple conducts a customer survey to see if they still use cable provided with iPhone 12
There are no small savings inApple'seyes. After marketing its iPhone 12 without a charger, the US giant could also remove the USB-C to Lightning charging cable from its boxes, reports PhonAndroid.
The charging cable is the only bulky accessory still provided with iPhones. Apple is looking to reduce the size of its boxes by limiting accessories, in order to save on transportation and thus reduce its carbonfootprint.
A survey on accessories
Cable removal has not yet been implemented, but it appears that the Cupertino firm is trying to figure out if it is useful to consumers. According to 9To5Mac relayed by Phonandroid, Apple sent a questionnaire to its customers to find out which accessories are most used among those still provided.
Customers can choose between the Apple logo sticker, the SIM card drawer extractor and the Lightning cable. Depending on thesurvey result, Apple could therefore remove the charging cable from its boxes for the future iPhone 13. The company had conducted a similar survey before removing the charger from the boxes of the iPhone 12.
