Spotify: Music files stored on smartphones soon to be automatically synced

It will no longer be necessary to synchronize the music files from his PC

Spotify will soon be able to automatically detect songs stored on Android smartphones. The audio files on the phone's memory can be read by the app without syncing, reports 01Net.

Until now, Spotify could only play locally stored music through computersyncing. The streaming platform now wants to do without this step by automating the process. The future feature was spotted by a specialist blogger, Jane Manchun Wong.

A feature reserved for Premium subscribers?

The reverse engineering expert analysed the Android app's APK program. Depending on the capture she shared on Twitter, a new feature should appear in the settings. In the "Import" of Preferences section, a new "Show Device Files" option now exists.

The feature will cover audio files already on the smartphone and those downloaded afterwards. They will be placed in the Spotify library automatically. The new option should be rolled out gradually, but it is not known whether it will affect all subscribers or only Premium subscribers.
